    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Shaffer, Sherman, Campbell, Rowe Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/3hGBAEB/1357.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Jeff, Things are looking up for a possibility. Someone once said my Grandmother Shaffer had a sister by the name of Hattie, could that be Henrietta Shaffer? Someone else once told me George Shaffer was connected to my line too, I just can't find it and George is another name used in our family but could come from paternal line of my Mom. Shaffer and Sherman would be maternal lines. I am not sure about the Campbell line other than knowing it. If the information I received from one source not naming George, I was told my Grandmother had brothers Edgar/Edger, Merlin/Murlin. I find no records to verify or date any of them. Rowe is also a name of which I am familiar as I went to school with one and Mom mentioned that name then to me. I seem to lose contacts when I mention this but will try again anyway, my long term memory is good, great. No brag just fact, until an injury to the brain, I didn't realize it was. Testing has proven this as they needed to know for therapy reasons to help me regain some functions of which I have lost. Previous to my starting looking for family, I attempted to make a list of the surnames ONLY I could remember her mentioning as now she and that generation are all gone. No dates, location, kinship, or given names, just surnames. Yes, I wish I would have listened better, but by then began to think it was some kind of name game she was playing. There were so many names, and back then I could not conceive of anyone being related to so many. I came up with over 400 names in a short time. I keep that list put up somewhere, never having added to it, but I do from time to time see another I know wasn't on it, and often time, I surf away to see if I can find a connection to the new name of any of the ones I am doing. I know, everyone says one surname at a time, that doesn't work for me. Sometimes I find others that lead me to one I couldn't connect. I am not a youngester, but in my heart, I do so wish to find my Grandmother's family. PA is a possibilty, but all I know is my Grandparents lived in Ohio. I haven't a clue to how they met or where. My Grandfather remarried after my Grandmother's death I recently learned. No one will or would speak of him, as they felt he betrayed Grandma some way. Said he was a womanizer, but with all the children, I would say stayed busy at home too. Opps, that's liable to get me in trouble on this board. And you are correct, any more personal and we will have to write privately as I have pretty well mapped out my family to me here. Don't want to say much more these days. Does that mean anything to you?
