    1. [SHAFFER-L] Shaffer in Beaver and Lawrence Co. PA
    2. Rollie Littlewood
    3. The SHAFFER family I am researching has U.S.A. roots in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. James Paden SHAFFER was born in either 1802 or 1804 in PA. According to some county history books I have seen that his father was a native of Holland, but I am skeptical about that allegation. James Paden SHAFFER, b. 1802 or 1804, PA m. Mary Madeline CLINGENSMITH (other spellings seen) b. circa 1805 PA or (more likely) Baden three children: 1) James Kaldoo SHAFFER, b. 1835, either New Castle (Lawrence Co.) or Beaver (Beaver Co.) PA / served in the U.S. Civil War from Jefferson Co. PA / m. Artemesia Deborah TRYON 25 Nov. 1868 in Tryonville, Crawford Co. PA / Methodist minister in western PA and eastern OH / has six children / d. Oct 1894 in Richmond Center, Astabula OH 2) Abraham Pollock SHAFFER, b either 1826 or 1830, probably in Beaver Co. PA / m. Sarah BARRON 1 Jun 1880 in Shenango Township, Lawrence Co. PA / carpenter, wagon-maker / had seven children, probably all born in Shenango Township / d. 27 Dec 1907 / his family and descendants appear in the FHL's Ancestral Search, put there by a descendant of his son Byron 3) William SHAFFER / m. Hannah (?) / farmer / lived in a number of counties in NW PA / had twelve childen / d. Lawrence Co. PA I am reasonably confident of the information I have on James Kaldoo SHAFFER and his descendants, as his is my wife's great-grandfather and I have put quite a bit of effort into researching his family. I am much less confident about my information on his parents and his siblings, etc. Rollie
