I'm interested in finding the parents of Adam A. SHAFFER, b. 26 Jun 1809, Baden, Germany, married to Julia Ann SPAKE, b. 11 May 1811, Germany. Known info: an older brother came to America first and settled at Columbus, New York, and later moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Julia Ann and Adam lived in Conemaugh Twp., Somerset Co., PA, 1860 Census confirms this! Children are: Elizabeth, Anne Mary, Magdalena, Adam A., Henry, Valentine and John A. SHAFFER. Julia Ann had two sisters, Mrs. MYERS and Mrs. WISE. I am related through Adam A., son John Thomas SHAFFER who is my paternal grandfather! Also have SHAFFER connection on my maternal line: Casper SHAFFER, b. 1784, Lauderbaugh, Germany, d. Berlin, Brother's Valley, Somerset Co., PA, after 1850; m. Margaret KELLER. Children: Henry C. (b. 1820, Germany, d. 1906), Anna, Conrad, Margaret, and Catherine. Henry C. SHAFFER married Sara DURST (b. 1823, d. 1863) and their children are: John Henry, Anna Susan, Susan, Elias, Caroline (b. 8 Feb 1849, Brother's Valley, Somerset Co., PA, d. 1927), Mary M., Tillie E., Margaret E., Henry W., Sarah, Lucy, Ida, and Minnie SHAFFER. I am related through Caroline SHAFFER who married Henry Lewis KLINE and had children including Laura Elizabeth KLINE (b. 13 Dec 1878, Kline's Mills, Somerset Co., PA), my maternal grandmother!
