My SCHAEFER's are as follows: John George Henry SCHAEFER b. 10-18-1890 d. 5-4-1927 (accident) married to Grace May YOUNG b. 6-3-1901 d. 10-7-1973. They had three children; Margaret Rebecca SCHAEFER (my mom) b. 3-6-1922 d. 3-21-1985 married to Stanley Enoch HASH, John George SCHAEFER b. 7-9-1924 d. 7-31-1986 married to Alice NUNNELLY, Anna Belle SCHAEFER b. 8-17-1927 married to Vernon JENKINS. John, Jr. also served in the Navy during WWII and is buried in Arlington Cemetery. After John Sr.'s death Grace married John's brother, Frank John SCHAEFER b. 5-16-1889 d. 3-29-1968. Their parents were Frank "Fritz" SCHAEFER, Sr. b. 1-20-1859 d. 7-5-1911 married to Rebecca WINKLE (WINKEL) b. unknown d. 12-25-1933. Rebecca was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Secaucus, NJ as that is where my mother was baptized. Frank's occupation was a farmer, but believe he also worked as a laborer. They had four children: 1. Frank, Jr. 2. John 3. Frederick "Freddie" b. unknown d. 5-19-1927 4. Anna b. 10-15-1896 d. 5-25-1974 married to William O'Brien Freddie served in WWI and was never the same afterwards as he was sprayed with mustard gas. John was in the Navy and was stationed in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War. The family history is very tragic. John was killed in an accident on the job. A week later, Freddie who couldn't deal with his brother's death committed suicide. The SCHAEFER's immigrated here from Germany and lived in Secaucus, NJ. Not sure when then entered the U.S. but had to be somewhere between 1870's and 1889 as all the children were born in the U.S. Frank "Fritz" SCHAEFER's parents were Cusnar SCHAEFER and Icannol (TEUM - believe this is her maiden name as difficult to decipher from Frank Sr.'s death certificate) SCHAEFER. Frank's death certificate only indicates his parents were from Germany. Frank, Sr. along with John, Frederick and Anna are buried in Grove Church Cemetery in Secaucus. Frank, Jr. is buried alongside Grace at Walker's Chapel Cemetery in Arlington, VA. Brenda
