I recently came across info concerning William Shafer, born in Virginia in 1813. He was the son of Samuel Shafer who emigrated from northern Virginia and settled in OH. Samuel was the father of 8 children: Henry, John, William, Samuel, Daniel, Edward, Maria, and Eliza Jane. William married Elizabeth Gilbert; fathered 5 children: Elizabeth, Henry (born 10/28/1835), Jonathan R, Cornelius, and Phebe J; and died in 1855.
