Mona, You mentioned that you might have information on Schaefer in Cumberland County, PA. I have a Frederick (Fredrich Shafer) in Cumberland County, PA prior to 1774. There is a Frederick Shafer mentioned in the Tax lists and Air Rates for that period. Also that the area was settled by Germans without land warrants. Our Frederick Shafer was born in Germany and came to this country and worked to defray his passage. A known son was John Adam Shafer born in New Jersey fifteen miles from Philadelphia. (The last part is from Rev. War Records). Do you have any information on this family? John Adam Shafer married Elizabeth Swartwood at Walpack, New Jersey. Elizabeths parents resided in Smithfield, PA and attended the Walpack Meeting. This family moved to Luzerne in 1786.
