It appears that Catherine THOMPSON'S maiden name was SHAFFER. Both a Catherine Thompson and a William A. Shaffer, who appears to be her father are buried in lot #301, section 26 at Fernwood Cemetery. Catherine (Shaffer?) Thompson's address at the time of her death in June 1887 was listed as 910 Reynolds St, Philadelphia, PA. William A. Shaffer was interred on 14 Nov 1895 at the age of 66 - which would put his date of birth about 1829 in PA. William A. SHAFFER's last address was 415 Daily or Daley Street, Philadelphia, PA. In the 1880 Philadelphia Census, district 230, (4th div of 14th Ward) located William A. SHAFFER, age 51 born in PA a journeyman shoemaker, father and mother also born PA. Living with William A. SHAFFER on Callowhill Street were his wife, Mary Shafffer, 48, born PA, mother and father born PA; also in the same household was Edward THOMPSON, son-in-law, age 36 a horse dealer, born in PA, mother and father born PA; Catherine THOMPSON, 28, wife of Edward Thompson, and their children shown as Edward Thompson, 7; Kattie Thompson, 4; and Willie Thompson, 2. In the same SHAFFER/THOMPSON household resided a Lizzie PHILLIPS, 31, shown as the daughter of William and Mary Shaffer - so she would be a sister to Catherine Shaffer Thompson. P. T. DAVIS, 8, also listed with the SHAFFER/THOMPSON family as a grandson of William A. Shaffer in that 1880 census. Does anyone recognize or have any additional information on any of these individuals?
