Hi All: Boy was that death certificate butchered: Valentine was the son of Elizabeth Catherina SHAFFER and he was born in Upper Saucon Twp. His children were: John Shaffer, Anna Catherine Knerr (Knarr) Maurer, Dorothea Sherry, Anna Maria Beisel, John Peter Shaffer, Isaac Shaffer, Elizabeth Henderliter (Hinderliter or Henneleiter) Andrew Shaffer, Joseph Shaffer, and Mary (Polly) Shaffer Shaffer (she married Andrew Shaffer's son Michael). He is buried in St. James Luthern Church Cemetery, Ringgold Twp, Jefferson Co., PA and a stone marks his grave. I questioned a local family member regarding Valentine's stone because it was very modern and not in keeping with his time. I was told that Church records record his burial and that of his wife Catherine Staub Shaffer at St. James but their grave was unmarked until a family member who was DAR obtained permission to mark her ancestors burial place. I think this certificate is an example of not taking literally what information a family member supplied after death as gospel. Nevertheless, I appreciate having it put online as I did not have that as yet. Thank you CL for sharing this information. If I can ever figure out all the words in my photocopy, I will attempt to put Valentine's last will and testament online also.
