Hello, I am new to this list. My SHAFFER line is as follows: John B. SHAFFER, born January 1817 in Fulda, Hesse Kassel, Germany, died June 1891, Dresden, Muskingum Co., Ohio. Wife: Elizabeth HORNUNG. Children: Mary, John Jacob, Lavina, Anna, Frederick Louis, Anthony Louis, and Frances. I descend from the son John Jacob who spelled the name with one f instead of 2. John was born in Dresden Ohio in 1846. His wife was Mary Josephine OTTERBEIN. Their children were: George Louis, John Edward, William Francis, Frederick Valerian, Charles A., Anna Maria and Agnes Josephine. John Jacob's son Charles was my grandfather.
