Married (1) Alcianna Blackshire, (2) Malissa Shaver/Shaffer. Served in B Company, 7th WV CAV during the Civil War. I am looking for a few people who are descendants of Henderson Shaver, or anyone else, who would be interested in obtaining his Civil War pension file from the National Archives. A few years ago the National Archives raised the price of the files from $10.00 to $37.00. If I can get a group of people who would like to have a copy, it would reduce the cost. I would be willing to obtain the pension file and mail a copy to each individual for their share (depends on number of people) plus the cost of copying and mailing. The cost of copying depends on the size of the file. I have ordered other files which have varied from 60 to 260 pages. It normally takes about 8 weeks to receive the files. The ordering procedure is: 1. Mail pension request to the archives. 2. When the file has been located the archives will notify me by post card. 3. About 6 weeks later the archives will notify me the the file has been copied and will be mailed out after receipt of a check or money order.
