The earliest ancestor I have for her was an Andrew Shaffer who was born in PA near Philadelphia and who died in OHJ and is buried in Uniontown, OH. He fought in the Revolutionary War. His wife was Elisabeth Chambers and they were the parents ofFrederick = Jabez - Valentine - Nimrod - Amasa = Julyann - Elisabeth Our family descended from Valentine and eventually settled in LaGrange Co. IN. I have had contact with a descendent of Frederick and know that they settled in another County in IN but the name of that County escapes me at this time. He was born Feb.4, 1844 in Bellefonte, Centre Co., Pennsylvania and died July 15, 1923 in Smith Center, Smith Co., Kansas. He was married to Sarah Ellen Smith in 1870. They had 14 children; the youngest, Delia Forrest was my grandmother. I have met some of the descendants of these 14 children via message boards and would like to locate more. I found them on the 1930 Census, living in Janesville, Wi with their son Clifford Shubert and her son from her first marriage George Thompson who is my Grandfather. If anyone has any information about her or her family please contact me. I have only a birth date of about 1885 or so. I'm also told she has atleast one sister.

Lydia Susannah commonly called 'Susan' married Jacob BENNETT also of Pennsylvania. They migrated to Marion County, Indiana where they had 13 children. They later moved to Madison twp, Madison Co, Iowa in 1852 where they stayed the remainder of their lives. I suspect that Jacob may be the son of Isaac Bennett of Brothersvalley twp, Somerset Co., PA and am trying to prove this. I see many Shaffer (various spellings) in Somerset County and hope someone who is researching this surname may be able to help me out.
