    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Shaffer, Humbird or Humbert / Humberd Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/mbexec/msg/5538/3hGBAEB/1461 Message Board Post: Hi, I am looking for any information on Elizabeth "Betsy" Shaffer, born ca. 1780 in PA. She is listed in the 1850 census of Westmoreland Co., living with her son-in-law, Solomon Humbert (also spelled Humberd and Humbird). She is 69 or 70, and he is 58 or 59. There are two entires, one with Solomon as the head of household, and one with Betsy as head of household. Other members of the household are Frank(lin) Kile, born ca. 1833 (age 17 in 1850 census), Susan Campbell, age 12, and Letta or Letitia Shaffer, age 40. Letitia may be a daughter or grand-daughter of Betsy. Solomon's wife (don't know her name, but believe it to be Susan or Susannah) died about 1819. Any info or leads, I'd be very grateful. I have plenty of Humbird (Solomon's sons married McKee sisters and moved to Cumberland, Allegany Co., MD) if of interest. There is the very, very slight chance that Elizabeth Shaffer's maiden name was Babb. Many thanks! Ginny Oswald

    2. Just a note to the Listers to let you know that I posted 4 messages on the Shaffer Board last night, dated 26 FEB, and because the Rootsweb server was down, I don't believe they gatewayed to the List. I wasn't a List member last night, so I'm not certain, but the messages that I posted on all of the other Boards last night, failed to gateway. I couldn't have picked a better night to post. I actually posted 46 messages on Boards last night. Peter (my gg) settled in Nicholas Co. I don't know about Mary, Elizabeth, Philip, and Phoebe? Chris Jr. went to Illinois and settled. I have talked with his descendants. Chris Sr. the father of George, Peter, etc, is buried there in Buckeye Cemetary in Tazewell/Mason Co. Illinois. I have seen a picture of Peter Shaffer, probably your descendant. I think Keith Shaver or Glen Shaffer may have sent it to me. They are descendants of George also. If you know anything else let me know, I have searched and searched to find out Christophers parents. I have some ideas? Mari! e Shaffer
