Hello, I am looking for information on a Shafer family that was in Clahound Co., MI in 1900. Edward C. Shafer b. Dec. 1848 (NY)was the father, Mother was either deceased or divorced, but Edward had the childern. They are: Minnie A. b. May 1880 MI; Grace D. b. Dec. 1882 MI; Olin E. b. Sept. 1889 MI; and Zelda S. b. 1893 MI Olin was my grandfather who moved to Seattle and married Lena Belle Ross (nee Fitch) in 1914, had a son in 1915 and were divorced about 5 years later. The son, Clinton Olin, lost track of his father when he was about 9(1924) and we think he may have returned to Mi. Would like to know more about his parents, siblings and what happened to him.

She said that the book TEXAS SOCIETY OF THE DAUGHTER OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION ROSTER - REVOLUTIONARY ANCESTORS is a compilation of information from all the Texas Chapters of the DAR. They have no headquarters and no office. Like our local Chapter, the address and the office are the home of the current President of the Chapter, which changes every time they change Presidents. She said that the numbers in the books after the members names are the members DAR registration numbers and you should be able to get information on them and how to contact them from the National Society. Hi Barbara: I have not run across any names or dates similiar to yours. My grandfather was Albert Clair Shaffer born in Jefferson Cty, PA. His father was Jacob Shaffer who was son of Valentine Shaffer. Valentine Shaffer's father was Johannes Martin Shaffer who came to this country around 1749 and settled in Lehigh County. My grand father was Harry Austin Shaffer. His father was George W. Shaffer and his mother was Eliza Phelmore. Harry was born June 12, 1868 in (I always thought Philadelphia but 1880 census says NJ, his death certificate says Germantown PA.)
