I have Johan Ludwig Shafer born 27 May 1755 (his parents were Simon and Ana Maria (Kurz) SHA"FER.) He married Christina Katharine BU"ssler (?) I am trying to locate Elizabeth FUCHS or her family. Her father and grandfather were both named Edward SCHUMAN, and she was descended from Maria Ursula SCHAEFER, born February 01, 1829, probably in Neuhausen, Wuerttemberg, the child of Jakob SCHAEFER and Anna Maria RUEMELIN. I am descended from Maria Ursula SCHAEFER's sister, Maria Agnes SCHAEFER. Before my grandmother died in the 1980's, she was in contact with Mrs Fuchs and her husband, sharing genealogy information, but we have not been able to locate their address since my grandmother's death. I don't know whether they lived in the US, Germany, or Switzerland. I would very much like to get in contact with them. There are two former major league Baseball players in this family who are "missing" They are George W Shafer, who probably died around 1906-1909 and was living in Philadelphia. He was a famous ballplayer, known as Orator, and it is odd that he has been missing all these years His brother Taylor is possibly the Taylor Shaffer in the 1920 census in Punxatawny,Pa. There was a Taylor Shaffer or Shafer around Philadelphia born 1870 but that is not him. There is a Frank Shaffer who was said to be another brother but I don't know for sure. Hello, I am searching for a Moritz Schaefer that came to the US in July 1866, he was 35 years old. He was with his mother Anna, she was 56 years old. His son Ernst, he was 17 years old, and his daughter Caroline, she was 19 years old. They lived in Madison County, Illinois. My g grandmother came to the US in 1866.
