I know that there were two Johannes Schaeffers who settled in Schoharie County, New York in the early 18th century. I am descended from them both. One was born in Hilgert Dorf, Germany. The other in the Pfaltz. Both circa 1690. Any information on these two individuals would be greatly appreciated. I have a bit more information to share with anyone who is interested. Daniel and Susan had the following children: James, Daniel, Mary, Nancy, Susan, Samuel, Jula, Delila, George, and William. They were in that area from at least 1820 to 1870. I am looking for ancestors of Daniel Shaver/Shaffar/Shaffer. He was married to Susan Samuels probably in 1823. The 1850 Crawford Co, Ind census lists him as Shaver. His one son, William Harrison, and daughter, Delia used the spelling of Shaffer from that point on. Another son, George Marion used the spelling Shaffar and eventually moved to Mo. He was married to Catherine. I believe that Daniel came from Shenendoah, Va. I think his father was Jacob, but can't find any proof. This family also lived in Clinton Co, Ind. Here is the Martin information I have in the database: Martin, born 30 Aug 1724 in Germany. Married 29 Apr 1749 to Elisabeth Catherine Laudenachlager who was born 2 Feb. 1725. Martin was a school teacher. He arrived in Philadelphia on 2 Sep 1749 on the ship "Albany." Their original ship was ship wrecked and they lost everything. The "Albany" rescued them and Martin had to put himself under bond to George Geisinger for their fare. He settled in Upper Milford, Lehigh Co., PA. The children I have information on are: George born ca 1750/60, Peter born ca 1750/60 Valentine born 31 Dec 1765, died 1 Dec 1852 Martin died in 1807 and Elisabeth on 7 Oct 1809. Martin was the son of John Adam and Anna (Hearst) Shaffer. John was born 17 May 1702, died 8 Dec 1742 and was a miller. He was the son of Johann and Elisabeth (Hubner) Shaffer. Johann was born 22 Mar 1669 and was also a miller. Johann died 2 Aug 1741 and his wife died on 24 Jan 1724. They were married 18 May 1697 in Reichelshein, Germany. Johann was the son of Leonard and Christiena (Wassermiller) Shaffer. Leonard was born 21 Jan 1644 in Germany to Leonard and Eva Shaffer. He married on 7 Jan 1664. He died 1697 and his wife, Christiena died 1729 and was born 1648. Leonard and Eva married 23 Feb 1636. The senior Leonard was born ca 1616 and died in 1660 and was the mayor of Bochenrod, Germany. Hi Kay! I have a Peter Shaffer b. Westmoreland Co., PA. C. 1800, parents were Johan Phillip and Anna Catherina Dornblaser Shaffer. Parent and their parents before were from Northampton Co., PA. Phillip and Anna Catherina moved along with all of their children to Licking Co., Ohio prior to 1820, they appear on the 1820 Federal Census for Licking Co., they then moved 1828 to the neiboring Knox Co., Ohio.
