I have just joined your list. I am having a great deal of trouble tracking my father's family. I have just learned that my grandfather John SHAFER is buried in the HOPE cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. He was born in 1874 or 1875 in Arkansas. According to a 1910 census of Pittsburg,Kansas. His siblings are Samuel Rose Mollie May John had 5 children Joseph 1909 Samuel 1912 Eva Ruby Annabelle Joseph was my father. Is anyone researching this Shafer family?????? Hi I am trying to find Catharine Schaffer parents and when she was born. When she died on Sept 9 1830, her age is list as 66 years. That would put the birth year around 1764. She married Henry Minium around 1782, because their first child was born in 1783 in Northumberland Co. Most of their children were born in Northumberland Co. PA Three were born between 1802 to 1810 in Crawford Co. PA. I have her birthdate as 10-14-1825, and date of death as 1-17-1911 and that she is buried in Niskey Hill Cemetery in Bethlehem, PA. She married Joshua Frankenfield on 11-28-1852. I'm sure others could comment much more technically that I. There are probably many crests. I wouldn't get too impressed with just getting "Shaffer Crest" and attaching too much significance to it, especially thinking it would have been in your Shaffer heritage unless you can document it. However, I do have one (with some explanation) that I will gladly send you if you mail me a SASE. A dollar would be nice, too, for the 8 pages & my daughters's time. G. S.
