In the 1880 census, Randall Shaffer is listed as a grandson of Rudolph Phy. His mother is listed as Lydia S. Shaffer, one of Rudolph's daughters. They were from Chester, Pa. Paul Phy was Rudolphs father. He had a brother, Jesse George PHY who was my gggrandfather. Are you part of this line? If so, I have Paul's naturalization papers, and am anxious to share with his decendants. No father is listed, so I am assuming that he may have died during the Civil War.

My great-great-grand father was Alexander Shafer b May 9, 1841, Lancaster, Fairfield Co., Ohio. Maried Mary Elizabeth Peters, October 24, 1846, Madison Co., Ohio. He also served in the Civil War with the 113th Ohio Infantry Regiment, Co A. Rumor has it that he had a brother or father named George. Also one of his sons was Ephfrom Capell Schaffer (my great grand father).

I just recently learned he was Benjamin's father . I think they all are from the Cumberland , MD. area , or Pennsylvania. Grandmother was Rhea Gertrude Shaffer Dgtr. of Benjamin & Mary ( ?) .Rhea had several siblings . John , Bessie (Elizabeth ) , Hazel ( Married name Wells). I think other siblings as well , whose names escape me at the moment.

Not yet retired! The Frank I have would've been a Hull. Frank & Charles Hull were half brother's to the Joseph & Emily Shaffer's 7 children.

I found out from my MIL before she died at age 90 in 2000, that her grandfather Conrad Shaffer was illegitimate and we don't know who his father was and just where he got the name Shaffer, his maternal grandfather, I am assuming. His older "sister" might have really been his birth mother; later she was the only one who knew the identity of his father and she absolutely refused to tell anyone. We know nothing prior to his name. His son was Frank Shaffer married to a Mossie Williams in 1906. Their daugher was my husband's mother Mildred Adele Shaffer Schairer. 1910 to 2000. Frank had a bunch of brothers, I think or a couple and some sisters. Not sure if a brother or cousin might have been named Fred or not. How old is Fred now? Sandy

DeCamp Shaffer but was born by my records in 1858. Joseph was born 1827. Other brother's & sister's of George are: Edward b. 1852, Minor 1857, Annetta 1861, Emmit 1864, Mallissa 1866, & Alice 1868. Joseph died in 1869 in Adams Township, Dallas Co, Iowa. Please advise if anyone can connect these Shaffer's for me. Thank you.

DeCamp. They had 7 children: Edward, Minor, George, Annetta (she married aThomas Montgomery & lived in Washington state), Emmit, Mallissa, & Alice. After Joseph Shaffer's death in 1869 ~ Emily then married a George W. Hull & they moved by way of the Oregon trail to Washington state between 1870 & 1873. Emily had 2 more sons ~ Frank & Charles Hubb Hull. Emily & George subsequently divorced & Emily then continued living with her son Minor Shaffer on the Shaffer homestead. Minor was my grandfather & was married to Alma Hull & lived outside of Almira, WA Lincoln Co. They raised 6 children: Emmett, Loran, Dean, Genevieve, Joseph & Hiram Hull Shaffer (my father). Joe (Joseph) Shaffer had a son named Fred Shaffer (still living). I've inquired into this query simply because of similar names in the Shaffer lineage. A Fred & a Annetta Shaffer marrying a Montgomery. I h! ave never been able to track down the parents of JOSEPH STANFORD SHAFFER b. 1827 I believe in Iowa & received records that he is buried in Dallas Co., Adams Township, Iowa If this sounds familiar to anyone ~ please advise at clsherm@televar.com Thank You!!!!
