    3. I quite agree the Electoral Registers are the best bet. Obviously having an address is a good thing to have otherwise it is hard work!!! I went to the Portmouth Central Library earlier this year to look at the E.R reg's going back to the 1940-1960's and then onto Fareham Borough Council because the family I have been researching have moved to that area. Portmouth C.L. also have years of phone books covering a lot of the county. In more recent years 'we' can opt out and therefore the edited version of the Electoral Roll are held at places like the Fareham Library. The 'full version' will be held at the Borough Council and I believe is accessible to the public where ever you go. But only in person, not over the phone. You may have to make an appointment at the Borough Council Offices should you need to go down that route. Good luck Patricia Veal 15228
