    3. Heather, You might be able to find out more from Dartmoor Prison Museum ( http://www.dartmoor-prison.co.uk/). His trial and conviction would probably have been in the local (or even national) press, so newspaper archives might elicit something. I believe FindMyPast have some newspaper archives, too. An imaginative internet search of his full name together with the possible dates may bring up a court record. An outside chance is that if he was in the forces between 1914-18, his service record (if it exists) might lead to more information.
