    3. I received a list of my GALLARD surname from the SPI (thanks Judy!) and have found a reference to my Ambrose GALLARD. The source is the book "Wivelsfield: the History of a Wealden Parish". I wondered if anyone on the list has a copy who could look up what it says about Ambrose. The ref. says entry 92- I don't know if that is the page number though. Thanks for nay help. 3. Hi Ruth, Heather Warne, "Wivelsfield, the History of a Wealden Parish" (1994) published by Pier Point Publishing & Wivelsfield History Study Group, £9.95 (possibly still to be obtained from Sussex Archaeological Society) page: 92. "In 1751 Ambrose Gallard, a carpenter, paid Samuel Smith's nephew and heir £85 for Gunns, but had to take out a mortgage for £60 at 4% interest. Ambrose died in 1791". The property is now called Jenners, a two storey house of three unequal bays with a large internal brick-built chimney (illustration on same page, circa 1600. Trust this will help you.
