Greetings Listers I've had a stray William SHOESMITH (ancestor, wife unknown) on my database for some time. The baptism of the first child is 1645, and the only likely marriage I can find is this one: Extract from the Sussex Marriage Index: Place: Mayfield, East Sussex, Date: 27 May 1641: Subject: William SHOESMITH Spouse: Grace MEPHAM I have noticed a number of MEPHAM queries on the List over the years, and wonder if anyone can tell me anything about this possible marriage. The children I have for William (wife not listed in PR) are: Mary (1645), John (1647) and William (1650). If I've got it right, I'm descended from William through his second marriage to Dorothy SMITH. My query for now is this: is Grace MEPHAM an ancestor of mine, or not?
