Well, I have something of an answer to question #3, Donna. The consensus on the web seems to be that a jackmaker / jacksmith made lifting equipment, such as the jacks we're familiar with today. Phil, I did find those same descriptions of the 1800's "jackmaker", however, I am wondering if it didn't mean something different in the mid 1600's and even more different as one who was a minister/curate/rector. What do you think?
