    3. Greetings John and Listers I'm interested in John's question too - as some of my lines go back beyond Parish Registers. My mother's paternal line of DANIEL - her surname too of course - goes back to her 8 x ggps (my 9 x ggps - one less than yours John) - see below. 1 Robert DANIEL b. cir 1555 Sussex d. 1608 Hastings, Sussex m. Margaret HOWMAN m. 8 Jun 1581 Hastings, Sussex b. cir 1555 Sussex d. 1629 Hastings, Sussex 2 Nicholas DANIEL b. 1586 Hastings, Sussex d. 1653 Hastings, Sussex m. Bennet PERIGOE m. 18 May 1613 Catsfield, Sussex b. 1593 Hastings, Sussex d. 1667 Hastings, Sussex 3 Nicholas DANIEL b. 1621 Hastings, Sussex d. 1680 Hastings, Sussex m. Alice SARGENT m. 17 Dec 1646 Hastings, Sussex b. 1628 Hastings, Sussex d. 1700 Hastings, Sussex 4 Thomas DANIEL b. 1660 Hastings, Sussex d. Feb 1723 Hastings, Sussex m. Elizabeth LASHER m. 30 Jul 1693 Hastings, Sussex b. 1670 Hastings, Sussex d. 1696 Hastings, Sussex 5 Thomas DANIEL b. 1694 Hastings, Sussex d. Apr 1771 Hastings, Sussex m. Susanna BOURN m. 13 Dec 1724 Hastings, Sussex b. 1699 Hastings, Sussex d. 1769 Hastings, Sussex 6 Thomas DANIEL b. 1725 Hastings, Sussex d. 1793 Hastings, Sussex m. Ann ALMOND m. 4 Jun 1751 Icklesham, Sussex b. 1727 Ashburnham, Sussex d. 1760 Hastings, Sussex 7 Thomas DANIEL b. 1751 Hastings, Sussex d. 1784 Lost at Sea m. Dorothy PHILLIPS m. 18 Mar 1771 Hastings, Sussex b. 1742 Hastings, Sussex d. 1812 Hastings, Sussex 8 Thomas DANIEL b. 1777 Hastings, Sussex d. 26 May 1850 Bexhill, Sussex m. Anna Maria BROWN m. 29 Jul 1802 Brighton, Sussex b. 1778 Diss, Norfolk d. 26 Jan 1862 Bexhill, Sussex 9 Theophilus Alfred James DANIEL b. 30 Jun 1817 Hastings, Sussex - died NZ. m. Elizabeth STEVENS b. 2 Sep 1832 Eastbourne, Sussex - died NZ. I also have a couple of lines in Sussex going back to my 11x & 12 x ggps, but the surnames change - they are 'distaffs of distaffs' as it were - and the parishes change here and there. The one below has Hastings in it for at least one 'vital event' for the DANIEL guys, but not always for their wives. My mother's gf (Theo at the bottom of the tree) was born in Hastings, but emigrated to the antipodes and died in NZ, and the birthplace and date of Robert at the top of the tree is uncertain, but believed at least to be in Sussex, maybe not Hastings though. As both my ggps on this line were Sussex born, and I have some Sussex ancestors on my father's side as well, I'm a tad over 1/4 Sussex by descent. Cheers folks. Hello everyone, I may have raised this matter previously, likely years ago and would appreciate any comments, information or suggestions. My 10th great grandfather Robert Page died in 1568 in Hellingly. It is only a guess but I would think he was perhaps born, around 1510 possibly in Hellingly. My information is from an excellenty written and detailed article which appeared in the SFHG Family Historian Vol. 10 No 6, page 222 titled "The Page Family of Wilmington". I realise that records for this period must be exceedingly scant, but possibly since the article was written a good number of years ago further documents of this period may have come to light. I realise that the chances are exceedingly slim but I would be interested to have any comments on this matter. Incidentaly, back from my maternal grandfather Harry Page ( born Wilmington 22 October 1867) the direct male line is continuous back to Robert Page mentioned above. Do any others of our members have a lineage that long in Sussex! .? With kindest regards to everyone, John Green, 9502, in Ontario, Canada. ps I have traced my father's male line in Sussex back to my 6th Great Grandfather. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. I am Sussex born and raised but now living in Australia. My maternal grandfather's mother was a Heasman (Maria Heasman born 17 June 1838 in Bolney) and her line goes back to a William Heasman who died in Barcombe in 1525. But I cannot claim this research as my own and have not checked original records bar the ones for later generations.
