While searching for Ward MI's in West Grinstead Church, a tomb was found set in the floor commemorating the death of Robert Havercroft and his wife in 1522. All the adjacent tomstones in the floor relate to members of the Ward family, but I am unaware of any connection between Robert Havercroft and the Wards.  In 1522, the church was still Roman Catholic, and I wonder if the Havercroft family had to give up their vault when Henry VIII broke with the Pope.    I have now found the will of Robert Havercroft in the National Archives, but there are two problems - firstly its not a very clear copy, and secondly its in latin.   I doubt very much that the will contains anything related to my Ward family, but it may give us a glimse into pre-protestant West Grinstead life.  Is there anyone out there who would be willing to have a go at translating it?   Thanks   Neal
