HI Christine Sorry I only answered the first part of your question. Regarding whether the Davy could be a mistranscription of the word Dary I have transcribed PR's from as far back as 1538 and some of the earlier records are recorded in Latin also if you have seen any early writing from the time many letters can look similar and the transcriber can only use their best guess as to which is the right letter. Also remember spelling was not consistent and if the speaker was illiterate and perhaps also had an accent the person writing the record wrote down what he heard which may well be not what the person was actually saying.
