    1. [SFHG] Where/What was "the PORT OF LONDON" in 1630-1650?
    2. Donna Casey via
    3. Can anyone tell me where or what was the Port of London 1630-1650? If it is reported that someone departed from the Port of London in say 1636, where exactly was that? 3. Hi Donna I looked up Port of London on Wikipedia which has this to say: Pool of London "Until the beginning of the 19th century, shipping was handled entirely within the Pool of London on the stretch of the River Thames along Billingsgate on the south side of the City of London. All imported cargoes had to be delivered for inspection and assessment by Customs Officers, giving the area the name of "Legal Quays". Behind Legal Quays lay Thames Street, with its warehouses, sugar refineries and cooperages." This should help position the port for you.
