The 1851 and 1861 census has Edward, a farmer, Mary and family still living in Lamberhurst and Edward's birthplace is given as Hastings. From these it would seem that Edward was born 1800/1801. I would think that the most likely candidate for your Edward was the one baptised 28th October 1801 in Hastings son of Edward & Mary Noakes. I have two siblings for him; Mary Ann baptised3rd July 1803 and Jane baptised 25th February 1807. Both in Hastings. An Edward Noakes married a Mary Harman 22nd December 1800 All Saints, Hastings. As a second choice I have another Edward Noakes baptised 13th April 1803, son of John & Mary Noakes. He had several siblings. A John Noakes, of Westfield, married a Mary Carpenter 3rd September 1792 All Saints, Hastings. I hope that this helps a little and set you on your way. Best wishes, robin Dear Listers, The Noakes family in the south of England seem to spread over all Sussex and into Kent so I've been suprised that my pleas for help to find members of the family has produced so little. I'm not seeking other than sufficient information to pursue the mambers of the family tree. So my plea this time is more precise and will, I hope, produce some information. Primarily I am trying to find the parents of Edward Noakes, Farmer, born C 1801, but where??, died 9th June 1865 in Lamberhurst, Kent where he resided at Whisketts Farm. The problem for me is that he appears to have been born in 1801, which, unfortunately was when more than one Edward Noakes was born. The next person is his wife Mary nee Haskell, I'd like to find her birth date, she was born in Cranboune, Doset C 1802 and she died in Lamberhurst 17th April 1874.. If it helps his son also Edward born 15th March 1830 was a Master Blacksmith and appears to have the Crimea medal. as to a 'photo in my possession. I have all relevant information on the descendants of Edward Noakes born 1830, almost without exception, to the present day. Edward is my Great Grandfather. There are the clues, who may have answers.
