    3. this is the hassle of 3 email addresses when you are not on the ball ----- Original Message ----- From: Joe Austen To: SFHG-L@rootsweb.com Cc: EOLFHS-MEMBERS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2008 10:32 PM Subject: Re missing cert GQ To the many members of both Societies, that have offered assistance in the last few days, you have my thanks and appreciation, unfortunately I have been very sick since I sent the last email, and was unable to concentrate on anything for long enough to respond to your` many replies (I got a chill on Sunday. I have managed to decipher a lot of the certificate, and the fact that she was born in Calcutta Place in what appears to be Bromley. I`ve also changed my opinion of who filled out the form and I now think that the Registrar did the lot including the fathers signature, but the mothers maiden name remains a mystery I have deciphered enough that I think that the last 3 letters are probably aim, the beginning of the name looks like a capital U but on a 45 degree angle to the right with a little squiggle to the left at the base, which is probably part of the letter. I would scan it and send it off to volunteers but I haven`t yet worked out how to install my new scanner. The old scanner worked fine until I went to England last year. when I came home the computer installed a whole heap of updates and presto the scanner dont work XP strikes again. so I went out and bought a Canon MX300 and it has 2 installation CDs. It is, after all, a transcription of papers sent to the GRO from the regional Register Office. Which themselves, are transcriptions of the original registers. -- Regards _ / ) "The blindingly obvious is / _)rad never immediately apparent" If Adolf Hitler flew in today, they'd send a limousine anyway (White Man) In Hammersmith Palais
