Hi, I haven't posted my surname interests for a while. I am interested in the following families. Where I have listed individuals, this represents the "top" of my tree. I apologize that this is a long list but my family wasn't very imaginative and tended to stay in Sussex (mainly East Sussex) for many centuries. There seems to have been intermarrying of lines which has confused things as wll. If anybody has information on any of these families I would be most interested in hearing from them. I would also be most happy to share the information that I have. Sellens/Sellins/Sellings - mainly in the Sedlescombe area. KING family - Hurstpierpoint/Albourne. My great-grandmother was a Louisa King born in 1827 in Albourne Sussex. Her father was (I believe) Nicholas King. She married James Comber in Brighton in 1845. In the census records her birthplace is given as Albourne. But on my grandfather's birth certificate her birthplace is given as Hurstpierpoint - which at the most only a mile away from Albourne. My grandfather's birthplace in the census records is sometimes given as Albourne and sometimes as Hurstpierpoint. I get the impression that it was common to go home to Mum to give birth - particularly for the first child. There seem to be a number of King families living in Albourne in the 1841 census. I haven't yet tracked Louisa King and her family any further back but there's a Nichols King (not Nicholas) as had of one family with a daughter Louisa King of the right age Through Genes Reunited I'm in touch with several other descendants of the Comber/King marriage - mostly living in Autralia. I just about remember visiting a great uncle in Albourne around about 1939 who made a considerable impression on me because he had punched cattle in the USA in the late 19th century and he gave me his woven leather cowboy belt (at 6 years old I was very disappointed that it didn't include a gun holster). I'm fairly sure he was a King. Richard, There seem to be quite a few King families in the Hurstpierpoint and Albourne area as you point out. At the moment the only information that I have is as follows: Richard King (abt 1773) m Ann Sayers (abt 1774) on 11 Feb 1793 in Hurstpierpoint. They had 8 children: Alice King (b 1 Oct 1809; chr 22 Oct 1809 in Hurstpierpoint). Richard King (abt 1795) Thomas King (abt 1797) Jane King (abt 1799) Ann King (b 8 Jun 1803) Nathan King (b 3 Jul 1805) Jeremiah King (b 3 Jul 1807) Esther King (b 10 Mar 1812) Daniel King (1817) Elijah King (1819) Our King families may well be related, although I can't prove it at this point in time.
