Hi Listers I wish to purchase a birth certificate and am unable to find the volume number and page number required to be able to do this. I have been through the birth Index on Ancestry, yes that site, and they do not appear to have any listings for the name for the first quarter that I require, this is not the first time I have noticed that they have quarters missing so I am wondering whether anybody can help. I am looking for:- FANNY TREVETT born 1852 in LANCING daughter of Francis & Sarah Trevett. I have the exact date of birth and exact date of death for all her siblings and this is spoiling my page. If anyone has access to any other Birth indexes and could help me I would be very grateful Margaret 12577

I have collected a substantial amount of material on the TREVETT's as part of my GREVATT research. Although TREVATT or TREVETT is a West Country surname, there are a couple of instances where a known GREVATT family in the Worthing area have been incorrectly entered in parish registers and/or census returns as TREVATT's or TREVETT's. So when I collect references to GREVATT's in parish registers etc, I also collect TREVATT data for the purposes of elimination. There is a baptism at Lancing on 25 Apr 1852 of Fanny, daur of Francis TREVETT & his wife Sarah JEFFRY, with an appended Date of Birth of 22 Mar 1852. This family are sometimes recorded as TRIVETT's. However, I haven't been able to find a birth registration for Fanny TREVETT under any spelling variation of her surname. So, I can only assume that she was one of the many children whose births were never registered pre-1873 when an effective penalty system for non-registration of births and deaths was introduced. I don't have a Date of Death for Fanny, but I believe that she married Charles Fairs BUTLER in 1877. Have you seen the TREVETT memorials at St. James the Less, Lancing and also in the civil burial ground at the end of the lane? Margaret - I looked at the images for the four quarters of 1852 and found no FANNY TREVETT, but have a look yourself as there are other TREVETTs there, also a few TREVITTs.
