Hell all. I used to receive the FRC (Family Records Centre) online quarterly newsletter and when that stopped signed up for the National Archives monthly newsletter but have so far received nothing. The FRC newsletter was useful for updating on 1911 census progress and the DoVE (digitalisation of Vital Events) project for digitalising all BMDs 1837-2005. A contract was signed with Siemens a few years ago. Disappointingly this appears to have stalled - whether due to government funding or Siemens lack of ability to complete I am not sure. Some listers may know about this already but others may not. If you go to the General Register Office website http://www.gro.gov.uk you will find bear the bottom of the home page a Shortcut entry for News Update on the DoVE project. Very disappointing.
