Having just reformatted my drive and installed AVG, I decided to try out my copy of the SMI. It was also blocked by AVG's NEW Resident Shield that believes my old SMI harbours a Trojan file. The easiest way to get it to work is to turn off the shield. The other way was to open the Manage Exceptions (double click on Resident Shield) and press the button. I then clicked on the Add Path button, browsed to my Temp folder and added it, then ticked the box above 'Use excludes for the Resident Shield'. The CD will then run as normal. Neither of these two methods is a satisfactory way of accessing the SMI. However I think I will just disconnect from the internet and close the AVG Resident Shield for now, until AVG bring out a patch. I assume SFHG will email AVG and ask them to sort it out.
