    1. [SFHG] Words in a Lindfield Will
    2. Diana & Graham Stevens
    3. I am reading the 1593 will of Richard FAIREHALL. It says he lived at Sunt in Lindfield. I can't find a place with this name, does anyone have any suggestions please? There is also a strange word I can't track down. Richard is making provision for his grandson John Cox's legacy if one of the trustees (Edward Cox) dies: "The Residue of the said twenty pounds which shall then remayne to be paid unto him the said John Cox at suche tyme as he shall accomplishe the age of one & twenty yeares And my will is that yf the said Edward Cox happen to dye within the said parine?, then the said Edward Hall ..." The 'par' is clearly written (though the writer uses the normal abbreviation for 'par' in other parts of the will, for instance in parish), the rest of the letters are a bit ambiguous. Any suggestions? This is the first will I have read where the glass in the windows of the house is specifically mentioned as a legacy. I wonder how valuable glass was in 1593? Best wishes to all from Diana in Perth, Western Australia
