    3. Hello John Although I don't personally know Stopham it is obviously a very small because in the 2001 census there were only 87 people living in 39 households - from Wickipedia. I've looked through the 1881 census for Church Cottages, Stopham but to no avail so I don't know when these properties would have been built. It is quite likely that these cottages are no longer there. They would probably have been next to or very near the church, which in this case, as I'm sure you're now aware, is St Mary the Virgin. My only suggestion would be to contact West Sussex Records Office as they may have more information for you. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful than that happy hunting Liz Stilwell ----- Original Message ----- From: <JBelch38ll@aol.com> To: <SUSSEX-PLUS-L@rootsweb.com>; <SFHG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 14, 2008 6:49 PM Subject: [SFHG] Church Cottages,Stopham. > Hello > > Is there anyone that knows Stopham on the list, today I was there trying to > find Church Cottages. The hamlet did not seem that big and there did not > seem to > be a lot of dwellings there.I am looking for 10 Church Cottages and could > not find a building big enough to have a no.10.Any help would gratefully > receivced. > TIA > > John Belchamber 6321
