Hallo everyone, Can anyone tell me if Morfee and Morfett are variations of the same family name or if these are two separate families? According to the SFHG Sussex Marriages CD George Sargent ch 19/2/1747 All Saints (s/o Edward Sargent & Mary Barry) married Anne MORFEE 10/12/1771 at All Saints, but the IGI gives the marriage as between George and Anne MORFETT ch 30/11/1748 St Clements (d/o William Morfett & Elizabeth Barry). I know the IGI is not always reliable, but I cannot find a baptismal entry for Anne Morfee at the right time in the SFHG Hastings Baptisms CD so assumed that the surname should indeed be Morfett. I confess to being swayed by the fact that both George & Anne (Morfett) had a mother whose maiden name was Barry! If someone could put me right I would be very grateful... Monica 12713

Monica, You'll find that the The SMI reverse entry (searching for Morfee) has witnesses: Eler.SARGENT; John PHILLIPS which may or may not help. I don't see the SMI commenting on George's origins!
