    2. I have just received a certificate for a marriage in 1840 and was very disappointed to see that neither of the fathers were named. There was only one witness named. Were certificates often "incomplete" in the early years or is this an isolated case? 3. Alan My ggg grandfather Edward Davis died Birmingham in 1839 leaving a young family when applying for my gg grandfathers marriage cert his father was Edward a gunsmith wrong profession so I sent for 3 of his siblings 2 have the correct profession Clog maker but wrong name John and 1 has no father mentioned at all, these were all in 1850,s This caused a lot of confusion but finally I found his death certificate which confirmed Edward a Clog & patten maker Although he becomes Edwin on his widows death certificate Regards Jackie 10751 -----Original Message----- From: sfhg-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:sfhg-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of alaninspain@msn.com Sent: 30 May 2008 10:13 To: Bridget Meads; Dkn72a@aol.com; SFHG-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SFHG] Query.
