Dear Marion I have two records of Woolgars, one of which is clearly the one you are interested in. Neither were buried in the Spy Lane Loxwood Chapel so these are from the death register only. It would seem that Michael's wife(s) were not deemed part of the brethren. This sometimes happens in these records, and I would not necessarily read too much into it. I expect Michael was buried in Chichester, as it was a rather distant sub-centre. In some instances local clergy refused to bury Cokelers, so we are told, again no primary evidence that I have. WOOLGAR Michael 1927 Jul-Sep ? 82 1845 Steyning Sx Chichester brother Michael Woolgar Loxwood Dependant Cokelers 2547 death date record WOOLGAR/JUPP Ella 1978 Mar 25 Ella Woolgar nee Jupp Loxwood Dependant Cokelers 3065 death date record The entry for Ella has no age at death, 25 is the date in March. The entry for Michael had year of death only. The months and age and place are my own look-up on Ancestry because he was a trustee. Michael was one of 4 named trustees of the Chichester Chapel in The Hornet in an indenture dated 24 May 1880, signed 2 March 1883 (in WSRO Acc 11283 Box 3/3), where he was referred to as grocer of The Hornet. The other trustees were named Sadler, Hart and Duke, witnessed by Green and Howick. Michael conveyed part of Joyes Croft at rear of NW side of St Pancras St, 100ft x 50ft for the building of a chapel, already constructed by 1880 or 1883. There are no West's named, but Boiing is, as below: BOILING George 1928 jan 2 Chichester brother George Boiling Loxwood Dependant Cokelers 2562 death date record BOILING Kitty 1929 jul 19 Chichester sister Kitty Boiling Loxwood Dependant Cokelers 2569 death date record BOILING Jane 1930 oct ? Chichester sister Jane Boiling Loxwood Dependant Cokelers 2585 death date record This is not a name I know anything about, but it is clearly a Chichester name. A quick flip through the registers which are in excel, but not diffentiated by place so difficult to sort by place, include: Henry Brett Sarah Drewett Ted & Ellen Goff Jane & Harry Green Hostler family Fred & Emily Hughes Sally & Jane Stracker Talbot family Walter, Harry & Fanny Hart William Sadler Not all entries have place details. There are no Grevatts (or similar spelling I am afraid. Midhurst was not a known location for Cokelers. I haven't attempted to unravel the importoant Luff clan of Northchapel and Warnham yet. Finally, I have a delightful picture of Michael Woolgar, which I will email to you personally. Roger No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG.
