The British vital records index is a valuable tool. It is an extraction of parish records done by volunteers. For the most part - it is accurate. The only problem I have found so far is that the incorrect parish is listed in some of the entries. Some of the Salehurst entries are listed as having been extracted from Rye. There was also a problem with one of the other parish extractions - ie listed as in the wrong parish - I believe it was Frant but can't be sure right now. Beverly
