His marriage to Alice Morley in 1800 - the Sussex Marriage Index states both parties were living in Lewes at that time. Do you know if Carter had any siblings? Have you tried following any of the Chiddingly Thunders forward? (I have not looked at them) Maybe you can find a family moving near Lewes ...? Happy hunting!
