There were so many being killed in WW1, that they were taking lads who wanted to get away from cramped living conditions in the cottages, without question. The Recruiting Sergeants knew perfectly well they were under age. The same thing happened in Germany in the second World War, kids only 14 years old were killed. May it never happen again. Diane 10813
