I think Anne, the original enquirer re occupation of 'Deputy Marshall' , should consider that the spelling in the PR is incorrect - maybe it should be with only one letter 'L' . This would mean that the father was a 'Deputy Marshal' and the dictionary definition of a 'Marshal' is the following:- 1. an officer of high or the highest military rank - Air Marshall, Field Marshal 2. an official with responsibility for arranging certain public events or cermonies 3. an official accompanying a judge on circuit, with secretarial duties 4. an official at a race I suspect he definition No. 2 applies in this case.
