Hi all. Have just been looking at a website featured in the latest Family Historu Monthly magazine giving various details of British people in India between 1600s and 1949. I did not find what I wanted but it looks a useful website for anyone who had relatives serving in India, either civil service or army. I am not technically minded so cannot set up a link to it but the website address is: http://indiafamily.bl.uk/UI The site includes births baptisms marriages deaths burials and an index of some biographies recorded at the India Office. Hope someone finds this useful. John Cain 10370
If I may add to this, anyone with connections in India might consider joining the Families in British India Society (FIBIS). They are extremely helpful and I have found them pretty knowledgeable about the Indian archives at the British Library, and how to use them. John, Thank you for that website - I managed to find quite a few of my mother's ancestors on there. Many thanks.
