Hi Laura There are several references to Royal Marine Police and Royal Marine Police Troop on Google. From what I have seen tonight it would seem quite probable that your death certificate is correct. Have you tried the Royal Marine Association or the Fleet Air Arm Association with reference to the Royal Naval Air Station, Ford? Alan. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Martin Mitchell" <us@magmart.fsnet.co.uk> To: <SFHG@rootsweb.com>; <bobthebear@talktalk.net> Sent: Tuesday, April 15, 2008 9:40 PM Subject: Re: [SFHG] Royal Marine Police > Hi Laura, > The Royal Marines were raised and maintained by the Admiralty, ie part of > the Royal Navy, so if you are looking in Army records he's not likely to > be > there. > Martin. > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > SFHG-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes > in the subject and the body of the message >
Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply.I will take on board all your suggestions and hopefully get somewhere. Looks like I will have to hound the Royal Marines Museum a bit more forcefully if I am going to get any answers. Arthur James Cunningham did lie about his age to join up in WW1,I always thought it was just a family story but luckily for me he as 2 death certificates:- 1 registered by his wife and 1 registered by the Navy the military one has him as 2 years older than his wife has him and the age from his wife tallys with his birth certificate so I guess he added 2 Years!! Many thanks again to you all Laura -----Original Message----- From: Alan To: Martin Mitchell ; SFHG@rootsweb.com; bobthebear@talktalk.net Sent: Tue, 15 Apr 2008 23:27 Subject: Re: [SFHG] Royal Marine Police Hi Laura?
