I was advised to steer away from Vista Home and make sure it is Vista Professional if I have to have a new computer. Possibly most troubles are for those who upgrade their 98 or XP to Vista rather than having a PC with Vista in the first place. Youy do need loads of memory (RAM), however, and I would recommend that you also buy a memory Stick, which can act as supplementary RAM as well as being a convenient backup medium. I got mine from Amazon at less than £20 for 8GB. The most annoying feature of Vista, in my experience, is the tendency to switch itself off when you use the 'Sleep' command, which means you lose anything you haven't remembered to save. As I had Windows 98 before I upgraded, it took a time to get used to, but now I wouldn't want anything else. Hi Judy I think that's very poor advice, if people was to stop and think when XP first come out The amount of problems was far superior to problems on the vista,( when first coming out) As for sleep mode on vista you just simply switch sleep mode off how easy is that, Terry Judy Excell <JudyW.Excell@ntlworld.com> wrote: I was advised to steer away from Vista Home and make sure it is Vista Professional if I have to have a new computer.
