My father in law, Pierre Renaud, claimed to have had 'a relationship' with the comedy actress Beatice Lillie which I imagine would taken place between say 1928 and 1936. I have purchased and read Beatrice's autobiography 'Every Other Inch a Lady' which leaves me tantalisingly close to finding evidence of this relationship but, at the same time, somewhat confused. The autobiography was written in 1973 which may account for one or two errors that I have found relating to her life in London, the period that interests me. I would love to hear from anyone who has a good knowledge of Beatrice or who could suggest where I might look for more details of her early life. With many thanks. Robin
Hi Robin, There is another book Beatrice Lillie; the funniest woman in the world by Bruce Laffrey, published by Robson Books in 1990. Apparently it is a more honest account of her life.
