I'm fascinated by the whole Richard III drama. However, there is an awful lot of nonsense being talked by claimants to the exclusivity of royal Medieval and Norman ancestry. Does anyone know the estimated proportion of those of us with English ancestry who would have royal blood? My 30 years of research have identified hundreds of my ancestors, almost all in S.E. England (including Hastings!). I guess I and my forebears, including all those workhouse paupers and transported convicts, must be pretty royal - along with millions of others! I know it has been calculated that every native European is a descendant of Charlemagne. Does anyone know the estimates for the English? Barbara Sanders
