Does anyone know if it is possible to find a list of monks who inhabited the Cowfold monastery during the 1920s and beyond? Family tradition has it that a son of my mother's great aunt became a monk at Cowfold. She had three surviving sons but there's only one for whom I can find no marriage or offspring, so I assume it was he who became the monk: Albert Eric Silvester born in 1901. I would like to: a) confirm that the rumour is true (because so many of my family traditions have so far been proved false !!) and if true, b) discover how long he stayed at the monastery and whether he died there etc. Any ideas? Dear Cordelia, Why don't you just ask the monastery? I presume that you are referring to the Carthusian monastery at Partridge Green (next door to Cowfold). If so, the Prior is Very Rev John Babeau and his e-mail address is john.babeau@chartreuse.info Good luck, Bob Waters 8286. > Date: Wed, 30 Sep 2015 20:19:25 +1000 > To: sfhg-l@rootsweb.com > Subject: [SFHG] Cowfold monastery records? > From: sfhg@rootsweb.com > > Does anyone know if it is possible to find a list of monks who inhabited > the Cowfold monastery during the 1920s and beyond? > > Family tradition has it that a son of my mother's great aunt became a monk > at Cowfold.
