I also became exasperated with the whole FTM setup. The annual “update” just seems to add minor bells and whistles without any core improvement. Having switched to a Mac it became even more unreliable. Entering data would result in a programme crash virtually every time. I spoke to a FTM for Mac expert at their stand at WDYTYA this year and was advised that buying the latest version MIGHT fix it! I have now transfered all my data to Roots Magic and am very impressed. Loading was straight forward and the latest version runs happily on my Mac. Seems to be a programme written by genealogists for genealogists. Extremely reasonably priced as well.
