    1. [SFHG] Where did they go?
    2. e-mail marian.hopkins via
    3. Hello all I am hoping someone can help point me in the right direction! I have a marriage cert for Joseph Wright (b Darlington) and Harriett Coates (b Lewes) who m 10/06/1899. The cert records her father as Richard Coates (deceased). The 1911C shows the couple and their three children Alfred, Henry and Jack living in Lowfield Heath, Sussex. The whole family are proving to be very elusive after this date and I wonder if anyone has any ideas for routes of enquiry I can try to get a better picture of them? Having sent for Harriet's birth cert I am sure I have the right person as the info from Census, certs etc all tie up. However, as always, there is that little doubt - not helped by the range of trees etc on various 'public' sites showing no marriage for 'their' Harriett even though I have discussed the evidence with many of them! I would love to 'tie up' this particular family so any advice given will be very gratefully received. Many thanks as always Kind Regards Marian

    3. Marian, Looking on Ancestry it appears that the family went to Canada. Joseph sailed from Bristol to Quebec on the Royal Edward on 26/6/1912. Harriett and the family followed on the Royal George on 4/9/1912 again from Bristol to Quebec. The 1916 Canadian Census have them living in Calgary. I hope this helps you to research them more fully.
