Charles Severs Sure a quiet list recently. Anything related to Severs, I will be glad to do a quickie computer search. I have access to a new data base and old searches might be worth repeating. I am not terribly fast but I am Cheap (at least my wife tells me that--I think it is "Conservative" but she insists on using the word "Cheap"--I am not sure why? If you think you match a name on the above list and think you know the name of a wife or child I can look for that name in the index and you can see if that name refers to the same WFT volume or CD . if it does it may be a match. If it does NOT there is little need to look as it wont be there. Of course, sometimes the submitter has erred on his data and used a variant spelling. The computer treats a spelling variant as another name. This, occasionally gets you into trouble. I will try to answer any Severs Querry through the List so as to create more traffic on the list and it may find someone else who is interested in the response or some part of the response. I find using "related names" is helpful as well. If the other families related in that time frame are used, it quickly, becomes recognizable to many persons. Also, after doign this for a while you learn that these families were not inventive about first names and tended to reuse the same names for several generations. Often the names of children of brothers are nearly identical with about 50% of the first names present in BOTH groups of cousins. I believe we avoid this now as it produces confusion to have too many persons of the same name in the 3 or 4 living generations of a family. In my family almost everyone had a John, Charles, William, Rebecca, Catherine and the use of the first name Hugh is fairly prominent and unusual. Charles
